I have been writing Alaska music
since 1974. Over the years my family and friends urged me to record
my music and finally I found the right time and place to do it.
Two veteran Alaskan music artists from Fairbanks, Pat Fitzgerald
and Robin Dale Ford created a recording studio in their log cabin
home and it was the perfect place to bring Alaska music to life.
We used acoustic instruments, and immersed ourselves in the project.
Charlie Hunt made his mando magic, Bryce Edgmon laid down beautiful
finger style guitar, Mary McBurney and Julie Lucky poured their
hearts into the harmony vocals. Robin gave us some banjo and Pat
put down both harmonica and guitar tracks. The result is an all
Alaska sound, in all Alaska tunes. |

As my live Alaska show in Tok evolved,
new songs arrived and requests for them increased. The order list
grew and grew and I knew it was time to record again. My good friend
and music buddy Floyd Seigler helped me work up the songs we use
in the show and together we headed into Jeff Morgan's Frozen Lake
Studio in Wasilla, Alaska. Alaska's finest Chet Atkins and style
guitarist Ron Wise joined us along with Kenny Snow on his superb
mandolin. Joe Stamolis played an upright bass, I strummed the banjo,
Floyd made his Martin 12 string ring, his lovely wife Jeanne sang
harmony and another Alaska CD was born. |

People who come to Alaska are very
spiritually moved by the serenity and the awesome wonder of the
wilderness. Over the years our families have spent many breathtaking
moments in the mountains. I wanted to express the faith that has
guided our family through the years and Beyond Alaska is that work.
In the mixture of original and traditional songs, is a tribute to
the creator and the spirit that envelops Alaska. Without this inspiration
from God there would be no songs from my heart and hand. Living
in this crown-jeweled land is as close to heaven as a living being
can get. |
